PRACTICALITIES AND FEES

Working together

What happens first?

As research suggests that the most important aspect of successful therapy is the quality of relationship between therapist and client, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation so that you can get a sense of what it might be like to work with me and ask any questions that are on your mind.

Following this initial contact, if it seems like we might be a good fit, we can arrange for a session or two where we may focus on your reasons for seeking support and what you would like to work through. It will also give us a chance to establish a counselling agreement to honour the nature of our sessions.

Frequency and timings

Sessions are generally 50 minutes long, though we can arrange for hour-long sessions at an additional fee if you would prefer it. Most often, sessions occur on a weekly basis, though I am sometimes open to working more or less frequently depending on circumstances.

My standard working times for open-ended therapy are:

Mondays 12pm to 5pm

Tuesdays 3pm to 7:30pm

Wednesdays 12pm to 7:30pm

Fridays 10am to 5pm

I can at times offer time-limited and shorter-term work outside of these hours, so it is worth getting in touch if the hours above do not suit you.

Fees

Fees are £85 - £100, depending on location and time. I offer a 10% discount if, once we have agreed to work together, you are happy to pay monthly in advance. Fees are otherwise due by bank transfer 24 hours before the start of each session.

Missed and cancelled sessions are chargeable at the full agreed rate. If you are unable to do your usual time, I will do my best to reschedule your session within the same week, however this may not always be possible.

I provide notice of my absences, for which no session fee is payable. Fees are subject to annual review and I will give ample notice of any increases.

Location

I currently practice in person from central London (W1G), Queens Park (NW6) and Willesden Green (NW2), as well as online globally via Zoom, Teams or Skype. I am open to hybrid working, where we have some sessions online and some in person.

Duration of the work

This is open, depending on what suits you best.

If you want to work on a specific issue, then short-term or time limited therapy may be more appropriate. We can talk about this in our initial session and negotiate a set number (usually 6 to 12).

If you feel like something more open and exploratory would work better for you, we can work in a longer-term, open-ended way. If we decide to do this, I feel it is important that we regularly review our work together.

What if I can't afford your fees?

I appreciate that therapy is an expense that some people are unable to accommodate. As such, a portion of my practice is set aside to provide time-limited, lower cost therapy for people who would otherwise be unable to afford it. Fees are negotiable depending on personal circumstances.

If you would like to be added to my waiting list for lower cost therapy, please get in touch.
